Hotel Tricks
One very important piece of advice for a comfortable stay at this hotel has to do with managing the potential for noise. You got to get a room in the back of the house on as high a floor as you can and far away from the noisy nightclub when booking and reiterate the request at check-in time. That one little request can mean the difference between a noisy night and a quiet one.
For history lovers wishing to really get the most out of Rabat’s past, here’s a great tip: take a dirt-cheap petit taxi ride to the Kasbah of the Udayas. Lose yourself in its beautiful, blue-and-white painted alleyways, explore the calm Andalusian Gardens within its walls, and end your visit with a mint tea at the famous Cafe Maure, with amazing views over the Bouregreg River estuary. It’s one of the most beautiful experiences in the city.
For real dining the old Medina is at a moderate walk or a very short taxi ride from the hotel. While there are a lot of restaurants near the hotel, the small family-run eateries within the medina’s walls are more traditional and often more delicious Moroccan food, like tagine and couscous, at very low prices. It is a great way to get involved with local culture.
Last but far from least, board the fast and comfortable Rabat-Salé tramway now: there is a tram stop near the hotel. You can go to the opposite city of Salé, on the river’s other side, as a low fare is charged for the pleasure of watching the view. Here you’ll find a visit to its historical medina much less touristy, allowing a fairly good peek into traditional Moroccan life as compared to medina in Rabat.
